Emil Lukas, b. 1964, Pittsburgh, PA
Painter and sculptor, Emil Lukas, lives and works in Stockertown, PA. He received his BFA in 1986 at Edinboro University and worked for artist Not Vital in Italy before he began showing in the late 80s. He has since shown extensively nationally and internationally. Recent solo exhibitions include Sperone Westwater, New York; Studio La Citta, Verona; and the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT. Recent museum shows that Lukas has participated include: “State of Mind,” Lucca Center of Contemporary Art in Lucca, Italy. “Paintings that Paint Themselves,” Kresge Art Museum, East Lansing, MI, ”The Drawing Center’s 25th Anniversary Exhibition,” New York, NY. His work is in important collections in Europe and the US, including the Panza Collection, Varese, Italy; the Dakis Joannou Collection, Greece; and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Arkansas.
Lukas is represented by Hosfelt Gallery in San Francisco and Sperone Westwater Gallery in New York.
