Durham Press is pleased to announce the completion of Central Range, their most recent collaboration with artist Hurvin Anderson. This reduction screenprint, measuring 27 3/8 x 17 inches on Somerset Satin paper, is printed in an edition of eighteen.
Central Range captures the lush complexity of foliage in the rain - deep shadows recede into obscurity, while the potent greens of the treetops shine through vertical dashes of rain. This intense illusion of depth reflects the process used to create Central Range: in reduction screenprint, the image is physically built upon itself. This process uses a single screen to print each color in a separate stage, modifying the image used to print the last layer with each iteration. Working from light to dark, this process allows the cavernous shadows seem to sit on top of the green highlights, though both elements all exist behind the foregrounded raindrops. Anderson plays with this strong sense of depth, simultaneously pulling you in and barring you off from this dense and alluring landscape.
Central Range, as well as many other prints by Hurvin Anderson, is available directly through Durham Press. For more information, please contact us at email@example.com.
