It is with great sadness that we share the news of the loss of our friend Tom Slaughter, who died late last Friday.
Tom was one of the first artists to make prints at Durham Press, and our great supporter, adviser, and dear friend of over 25 years.
Known for his great style, handsome charm and consummate enthusiasm for art and beauty, Tom’s passions were wide and generous. He was not only an artist of remarkable talent, but a wonderful children’s book illustrator, art director, and designer. Tom was also incredibly philanthropic and served as a board director at PS1, the Public Theater, and he was the managing director of the Horace Goldsmith Foundation, which helped fund phenomenal shows and organizations in New York and across the country.
Tom will be greatly missed, especially by his two wonderful daughters, Hannah and Nell, to whom he was devoted.
Please join us in remembering and honoring this remarkable man. May he rest in peace.
